As a human being your are chalk full of impulses.

But as an actor you may be shutting those off – which will make your acting seem stilted and disconnected, not to mention make the camera yawn.

What are impulses, exactly anyway? And how do we learn to rely on them like Tilda Swinton, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and other great actors do?

As an actor you hear it all the time – “Listen!”

But what does that mean exactly? You hear the words your scene partner is saying. You’re familiar with the scene. So what more is there?
