Frequently Asked Questions About AIAC and The Liechty Technique

Why take acting classes?

Acting is an art and a skill, and it must be honed like any other skill. Good acting training will help you be one with your instrument (voice, body, movement, emotions) and teach you to rely on your impulses while you are living truthfully in your role.

At Actors In Action Conservatory, we teach the Liechty Technique, which takes a behavior-first approach to acting. We drill voice work, movement, moment-to-moment work (repetition), verb work, audition work, script analysis, and scene work over and over again, much like a pianist practices their scales or soccer players drill their foot work. This repetitive work takes the actor out of their head and into their instruments/impulses, so they can instinctively play a scene. The result is a fail-safe acting process that is always there for the actor no matter the circumstance or challenge.

Are there online acting classes?

There are many online acting classes now, which is great news for actors. With only a few adjustments, all of the same drills and exercises that would be done in a live class are still effective over video, and we now get to work on framing, which is a vital skill for film and television.

What kind of acting classes should I take?

The best acting classes are those that give you a solid method that works for you. Acting may sometimes seem like an elusive art, but we believe you can develop tangible skills that take the “hit or miss” factor out of the process. A great acting class should also be hands-on, which is why the actors in our classes spend most of their time with exercises that help them get in touch with their instincts.

Can you put acting classes on your resume?

Absolutely. Agents and casting directors want to see proactive actors who are constantly seeking to sharpen their skills and learn new techniques. Online acting classes and workshops provide the opportunity to learn from various teachers around the world, and putting that on your resume is a great way to showcase what you can do.

How much do classes cost?

Our classes are currently $159 a month. $129 a month for children ages 9 to 13. We also have a Class Plus option which is $259 a month and includes class plus a weekly 30-minute individual training session.

Do you really guarantee your technique will work?

Yes, we do. The Liechty Technique has been used by many, many actors to get them to a process so solid they fully trust it to do their best work in any circumstance. The only caveat is you must be willing to work hard, be patient and follow all of the instructions in order to achieve this level of mastery with your acting. If instructions are not followed no guarantee is made. This guarantee does not extend to our voiceover classes as the Liechty Technique is not taught in those.

What if I need to take a break from training?

Once you are accepted into the training program at AIAC and have onboarded we suggest you give the training at least 3 to 6 months of serious focus. If you decide to take a break or leave the training, we ask that you participate in our exit process. If you decide to return, we will once more take you through the on-boarding process.

Do you train children younger than 9 years of age?

We like to provide individual training with children under the age of 9 as we feel they are not yet emotionally or psychologically developed enough to benefit from the structure of our classes. However we feel they can greatly excel with individual training and the specific guidance that affords.
